Introduction

During the relatively short time that I have been working with clay I have been touched by the generosity of other potters in terms of the time that they have been willing to give and the information that they have been prepared to disclose.  Much of what I know I owe to others.

Like most potters, I am on a journey which never really ends.  The journey involves regular experiments, some of which are successful, others less so.

The way that I work is based upon the philosophy of coexisting with nature in a sustainable way and having the least possible negative impact upon the environment.  This is often the yardstick which determines whether my experiments have been successful.

The purpose of this technical section is to share some of what I have discovered as a gesture of thanks to those who have helped me and the thought that I may be able to help others.  More importantly is the hope that I may be able to, by sharing this information, make the world a 'greener' place.

To date, my experiments have focused upon using what many would consider to be waste materials to make glazes and the design/construction of a highly effiicient wood kiln which is fired with waste wood.
